Women's Golf prepped for Golfweek Spring Challenge

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's golf team is set to kick off its penultimate regular season tournament this week, traveling east to take part in the Golfweek Spring Challenge, hosted by Golfweek. The event takes place in Pawleys Island, S.C., at the Caledonia Fish & Golf Club from March 31 – April 2.
THE FIELD
15 additional programs will join Middle Tennessee in competition this week, including numerous schools that the Blue Raiders have seen in competition already. Farleigh Dickinson, Stephen F. Austin, Evansville, Mount St. Mary's, Winthrop, Towson, UNC Asheville, Stonehill College, Morehead State, Coastal Carolina, Ohio, Marshall, Akron, UIC and USC Upstate join the hunt for the tournament victory.
THE BLUE RAIDERS
For the second tournament in a row, Ella Manley will start in the one spot for Middle Tennessee. In the two rounds at the Puerto Rico Shootout, she placed T40 after a difficult opening round. She improved in the second round, finishing at 152 (+8) through 36 holes of play.
Jillian Bowman will make her highest start in the lineup this season at the Golfweek Spring Challenge in No. 2. In the last stroke play event in Puerto Rico, she shot a 157 (+13) in two rounds of play.
Lanie Campbell will start third for Middle Tennessee after a strong qualifying performance. At the previous tournament, she wrapped up two rounds of play at 153 (+9), with her lowest round coming in the second 18 holes at a 75.
Abbie Lee is set to return to the lineup after a career-best performance at the Puerto Rico Shootout. Lee earned her first collegiate top-10 finish while carding a 146 (+2) for the weekend. She tallied her fifth round at par or better for the season in the second round (72) for her best finish of the season.
Nicole Johnson will round out the lineup for the Blue Raiders at the Golfweek Spring Challenge. The sophomore was able to bounce back after a difficult opening round in her previous contest, carding her third round at par or better this season with a 72 (E) in the final round of the tournament. Johnson finished T34, 150 (+6), matching her second-best finish of the 2024-25 campaign.
THE COURSE
The challenge will be played at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, which opened to the public in 1994. It was the first solo design by architect Mike Stranz, with 18 holes featuring large and creative greens guarded by ponds, streams and imposing bunkers. The course also features thousands of annual and semiannual flowers that bloom throughout the property.
THE TOURNAMENT
The tournament is set to play at a par 71 at 6,054 yards per round. The first of three rounds will begin with tee times, with Middle Tennessee set to tee off beginning at 7:46 CT at hole one. The Blue Raiders will be paired with Evansville and Stephen F. Austin for the opening 18 holes.
