MTSU offense catches fire with 12-run performance

Ansley Blevins swats two home runs and Jana Want goes 3/3
The Blue Raiders (9-13, 1-1) recorded their highest run total in a game since March 3, 2023, and set a new program high for runs scored in a conference game during the Breeden Era.
MTSU came out firing in the first inning, scoring on a Jana Want RBI-single. Ansley Blevins kept the momentum going in the second, launching a solo home run on the first pitch of the inning, sneaking it just inside the left-field foul pole.
FIU (18-8, 1-1) responded with a run in the fourth and threatened to take control with runners on second and third with no outs. However, Tori Coffman and the Blue Raider defense slammed the door, escaping the jam with just the one run allowed. Coffman went the distance, tossing a complete game while surrendering only the lone run.
The Blue Raiders extended their lead in the fifth when Jana Want ripped a two-run double off the center-field wall, making it 4-1. MTSU began to pull away in the sixth, starting with Ansley Blevins' second home run of the game—a solo shot to left-center field. It marked the fourth multi-home run game of her career.
Later in the inning, Ava Tepe kept the offensive surge rolling with a two-run double, scoring Ava Brooks and Anyce Harvey. Tepe then came around to score on an error, pushing the lead to 8-1.
MTSU wasn't done yet. In the seventh, Lexi Medlock crushed a three-run home run, bringing home freshmen Emmaline Whitt and Jana Want. Ava Brooks capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly, giving the Blue Raiders a dominant 12-run performance.
Want reached base four times, going 3-for-3 with a walk, raising her batting average to .385 and her on-base percentage to .487. Blevins finished the night 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double. After starting the season with just one hit in her first 27 at-bats, she has caught fire, now boasting an OPS of 1.055.
When asked about the team's performance, head coach Jeff Breeden said the following: "I thought Tori commanded the game exceptionally well tonight. Her velocity was up, and her changeup was sharp. Even the hits they managed weren't squared up. Offensively, we were aggressive at the plate, hunting for hits. Ansley and Jana stepped up in a big way for us."
