Middle Tennessee Dominates No. 19 Princeton in 7-0 Sweep

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — No. 39 Middle Tennessee swept No. 19 Princeton, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex.
In doubles play, the blue raider competed on court two, where seniors Eric Crivei and Jonasz Dziopak achieved a 6-2 victory over Meecah Bigun and Fnu Nidunjianzan. The match was tied at 2-2 before the Blue Raiders won four straight games to secure the win.
On court three, Houston Jacques and Antoine Mayoral secured the doubles point by defeating Aleksandar Mitric and Sebastian Sec, 6-3. After establishing an early lead, the freshmen duo maintained a 5-2 advantage, although Princeton attempted to close the gap at 5-3 before the blue raiders won the final game.
The court one match, featuring no. 38 Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak against Landon Ardila and Evan Wen, was left unfinished at 5-4 once the doubles point was obtained.
Middle Tennessee carried its momentum into singles, with Al-Amin winning 6-1, 6-1 over Ardila on court two, extending MTSU's lead to 2-0.
Next on court six, Crivei defeated Meecah Bigun, 6-3, 6-4. The opening set was tied at 3-3 before Crivei won three consecutive games. In the second set, Bigun attempted to narrow the gap at 4-3 and 5-4, but the Canadian native closed it out at 6-4, giving MTSU a 3-0 lead.
On court three, junior Birtan Duran beat Sebastian Sec, 6-3, 6-2. After a 3-3 tie in the first set, Duran went on to win three games in a row. In the second set, Princeton managed only two games as Duran clinched the match from 5-2 to 6-2, maintaining a winning singles streak of 3-0.
Horak secured the clinching point on court one, defeating Fnu Nidunjianzan, 6-2, 7-5. After a smooth opening set, the second set featured three ties. Tied 5-5, Horak won the last two games, putting MTSU ahead 5-0.
Senior Freddy Murray contributed to the score on court five, achieving a 6-4, 6-7 (7-4) 1-0 (10-2) win over Evan Wen. Murray edged the first set and performed well in the second-set tiebreak, eventually winning the third-set tiebreak 10-2 to complete the match which MTSU adds another point, 6-0.
The final match was on court four, where Dziopak defeated Jordan Reznik, 7-5, 7-6. The first set featured four ties, with Dziopak winning the last two games after a 5-5 tie. The second set also had two ties, but Dziopak maintained the lead throughout, then won in a tiebreak for a sweep for the Blue Raiders.

The last time they defeated a top 20 team was on March 9, 2023, against #19 Northwestern, winning 4-3 on the road. In the same season Middle Tennessee men's tennis started the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 4-2 win over #19 Duke in Winston-Salem, N.C. on January 27, 2023.
#30 Middle Tennessee also won against #19 Arizona 4-0 on February 25, 2022, In the 74th Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Championship at the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex.
Additionally, on March 26, 2006, they won 4-3 against #18 Louisville at home.
