Men place third, women fourth at CUSA Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Middle Tennessee Track & Field finished competition in the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Blue Raider men finished third and the women finished fourth.
11 Blue Raiders finished on the podium in Lynchburg; Faith Nyathi finished first in the women's 5000m and second in the women's 3000m, Jacinto Gaspar placed second in both the men's 5000m and 3000m, Moses Lekokei topped the field in the men's 5000m and the 3000m, Xarya Udoumana finished third in the women's long jump, Privillege Chikara placed second in the women's mile, Chidinma Agu recorded a personal best and finished second in the women's 400m, Mustapha Bokpin placed second in the men's 60m and first in the 200m, Wail Bourahlifinished second in the men's 800m and Mackdonald Songok placed first in the event and the men's DMR squad consisting of Juan Lucas De La Fuente, Gabe Allen, Bourahli and Songok placed third in the race.
In addition to the podium finishes, Nyathi clocked a school record in the 5000m with a mark of 16:23.03, besting the 16:42.42 mark set by Gladys David in 2016. Songok's time of 1:47.58 in the 800m broke the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championship meet record.
During the award ceremony at the conclusion of the CUSA championships, Lekokei was honored as the Men's Highest Point Scorer of the Meet.
