Blue Raiders Open Schenkel Invitational in 11th

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Middle Tennessee men's golf team sits in 11th place after the opening round of the Schenkel Invitational on Friday at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Blue Raiders posted a first-round score of 3-over-par. Host Georgia Southern leads the tournament after an opening-round 10-under-par, while Yale and No. 26 Utah are tied for second at 7-under-par. Middle Tennessee is just one shot back of the group tied for seventh place at 2-over-par and three strokes behind Notre Dame and Mississippi State, who are tied for fifth at 3-under-par after the first round.
Individually, Rocco Salvitti of Notre Dame leads the field after an opening-round 8-under-par. Liam Nelson of Miami (OH) sits in second at 6-under-par, while Garrett Endicott of Mississippi State, Thomas Horne of Georgia Southern, Brandon Robison of Utah, and Sergio Jimenez of Utah are tied for third at 5-under-par following the first round.
The three-day tournament continues Saturday with the second round before concluding Sunday at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Lineup
• Maddox Crowder led the Blue Raiders in the opening round, carding a 1-over-par 73.
• Connor Henry also finished the day at 1-over-par 73.
• Carter Maneth posted a 1-over-par 73 in the first round.
• Oliver Baker recorded a 3-over-par 75.
• Jake Hopper rounded out the lineup with a 4-over-par 76.
