Blue Raiders begin homestand with midweek against TSU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball is back in Murfreesboro for a five-game homestand, beginning with a midweek game against Tennessee State. The Blue Raiders will host the Tigers on Wednesday, April 15 with the first pitch slated for 6:00 p.m. CT at the Blue Raider Softball Field.
Blue Raider Notes
- Onnika Spencer blasted home runs 43 and 44 for Middle Tennessee at the Delaware Softball Diamond. The Blue Raiders are third in Conference USA in home runs, and Spencer is tied with Ansley Blevins for the most home runs on the team with eight.
- The Blue Raiders turned their 15th double play of the season against the Blue Hens; Middle Tennessee tied for fourth in Conference USA in the stat category.
- Macie Harter has been a stellar leadoff hitter for Middle Tennessee, leading the team in on-base percentage (.465), walks (29) and runs scored (30). The sophomore left fielder is ranked second in Conference USA in walks and ninth in runs scored. Harter also held a streak of reaching base in 24 consecutive games; that streak snapped during game three against Delaware. Her 24-game streak is tied for the 14th longest in NCAA Division 1.
Tiger Notes
- Tennessee State enters the midweek 1-29 overall under the leadership of Genee McRath in her fifth season.
- Jace Jackson leads the way at the plate for the Tigers with a .387 batting average, a .559 slugging percentage, 36 hits and 18 runs.
- Chelsi Ervin leads Tennessee State in ERA (3.96), WHIP (1.82) and opponent batting average (.291).
Series History
The series between Middle Tennessee and Tennessee State is 51-8 all-time in favor of the Blue Raiders. Middle Tennessee is currently on an eight-game winning streak against TSU and has only dropped two games against the Tigers in Murfreesboro.
