WAYNESVILLE, N.C.- Middle Tennessee men's golf finished up its first round of the fall of 2026 with a team total of 283 to sit at T13 in the JT Poston Invitational.

A duo of newcomers lead the way for the Blue Raiders after the squad's first round at the Waynesville Inn & Golf Club, as freshman Stiles Hunter and junior transfer Stanley White shot an even 71. White tallied two birdies on his front nine, while Hunter carded one each on both the front and back nine leading to being T41.

Trailing close behind Hunter and White are the lone returners to make the trip to the Poston Invitational, Connor Henry and Maddox Crowder. Both Blue Raiders took a one-over 72 out of day one. This slots them in at T57.

Rounding out the field of Middle Tennessee golfers taking on the Western Carolina hosted tournament is Clay Pendergrass. The senior shot a round of two-over golf, placing him T67 with 73 strokes.

Coach's Comments (Head Coach Mark McEntire)

"We played really tight today," Middle Tennessee head coach Mark McEntire said. "It was our first round of the year and we needed to work out some jitters. We need to do a better job on the par 5 holes tomorrow and get back in position."

Up Next: The Blue Raiders will have split-squad action for the next two days, between the JT Poston Invitational in Waynesville, North Carolina and five individuals competing in the Grover Page Classic in Jackson, Tennessee. Rounds in North Carolina are set to begin at 8:00 a.m CT, while the Grover Page Classic will have a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. CT. The second round of the Page Classic will also take place tomorrow afternoon.
