Blue Raiders fall to Louisville at ITA Kick-Off

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 52 Middle Tennessee men's tennis team fell to No. 47 Louisville, 4-3, to open the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Ohio State on Saturday. The Blue Raiders mark in dual matches falls to 1-1.
MT opened up the afternoon by taking the doubles point with victories in two of three matches. Junior Yannick Born and freshman Aaron Jumonville moved to an unblemished 2-0 mark in doubles matches this spring with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles over the Cardinals' Albert Wagner and Jeffrey Brown.
The nationally-ranked No. 22 sophomore tandem of David Fox and Victor Cornea also moved to 2-0 on the spring with a win at No. 1 doubles over Louisville's Seb Stiefelmeyer and Van Damrongsri, 6-4.
At No. 3 doubles, junior Victor Hoang and freshman Sam Matheson fell to Alex Gornet and Luis Elizondo, 6-3.
Junior Ettore Zito won his lone match of the day, a victory at No. 2 singles over Wagner (4-6, 6-3, 6-1), while Cornea took his No. 3 singles match over Damrongsri (6-5, 6-5).
Louisville would take the other four singles matches en route to the victory. Stiefelmeyer downed No. 98 Fox at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-2), Matheson fell to Gornet at No. 4 (4-6, 6-1, 6-1), Hoang lost to Chris Simich at No. 5 (3-6, 6-5, 6-4) and Jumonville was defeated by Michael Lippens at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1).
The Blue Raiders return to action Sunday at Ohio State, squaring off with No. 57 Denver at 9 a.m. CT.
