Raiders and Racers set for rivalry match-up

MT hosts Murray State on Tuesday
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's basketball team will sqaure off against long time foe Murray State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Murphy Center.
This marks the 137th meeting between Middle Tennessee and Murray State as the Racers lead the series 101-35. The rivalry dates back to the 1929-30 season as Middle Tennessee defeated the Racers at home 39-29.

BLUE RAIDER BULLETS
- In their last five meetings the Blue Raiders have won three out of the five contests with MT snagging an 80-62 road win last season to hand the Racers their lone loss at home.
- Middle Tennessee opens the season with four-consecutive home matches with Ohio Valley (Nov. 14 – W, 77-60), Murray State (Nov. 18), Southern University (Nov. 22) and Northern Arizona (Nov. 25).
- Middle Tennessee took on Ohio Valley in its season-opener on Friday as the Blue Raiders picked up a 77-60 win in the Murphy Center. It was the first time the two had faced each other in program history as Reggie Upshaw Jr. registered a game-high 17 points.
- The Blue Raiders went 14-2 last season at home and hold a record of 46-4 at the Murphy Center in the last four seasons including this season's 1-0 start at home after defeating Ohio Valley.
- Middle Tennessee ranks second in the country with a 46-6 record in conference games over the last three seasons, just behind Davidson (48-4). The Blue Raiders are 20-5 over the last three seasons in conference road games.
- The Blue Raiders have nine new faces on the roster with five freshmen and four transfers. The Blue Raiders have not had this many true freshman on the squad since the 2009-10 season.
- Freshman JaQuel Richmond picked up a start in the Blue Raiders' season opener and dished out a game-high 7 assists in his first collegiate start. Four freshmen played in the Blue Raiders home-opener with Richmond, Jacob Ivory, Edward Simpson Jr. and Giddy Potts all collecting a combined total of 40 minutes, 10 points and 10 assists.
- Four transfers come in to Middle Tennessee with Darnell Harris, DJ Jones, Perrin Buford and Xavier Habersham. In the Blue Raiders first game of the season against Ohio Valley, Darnell Harris collected the most minutes of the players that transferred in with 21 minutes. Harris recorded seven points and nine rebounds in the victory.
- The Blue Raiders have recorded three-consecutive 20+ win season; tied for the most consecutive 20-win seasons in Middle Tennessee history.
- Middle Tennessee has four teams on its schedule that received votes in the AP Top 25 Poll with La Tech, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State and UTEP picking up votes. The Bulldogs and the Miners also snagged votes in USA Today's Coaches Poll.
- Middle Tennessee has earned at least a share of the conference regular season title three years in a row and four of the last five years. Last season the Blue Raiders were in their first season with Conference USA and procured a 13-3 record in conference play to grab a share of the regular season title.
- Head Coach Kermit Davis is 17 wins from his 250th career win at Middle Tennessee.
