Blue Raiders host NAU on Tuesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee men's basketball continues play in the Emerald Coast Classic on Tuesday evening as the Blue Raiders host Northern Arizona in the Murphy Center.

The Blue Raiders are hosting their second game in the Emerald Coast Classic after grabbing 66-48 victory over Southern University on Saturday to open the tournament. MT's match-up against the Lumberjacks is the final game in the Murphy Center of the tournament as the Blue Raiders are slated to face Cincinnati in Niceville, Florida in game three.

MT looks to get its second win in a row as the Blue Raiders currently sit 2-1 after the first three games of the season.

BLUE RAIDER BULLETS

Northern Arizona opened the Emerald Coast Classic against the Rebels on Sunday night as the game came down to two possessions with Ole Miss coming away victorious 80-74.
Quinton Upshur is leading the Lumberjacks in scoring with 15.3 points per game, shooting 44.8 percent from three-point range with 13 treys so far this year.
Middle Tennessee is opening the season with four-consecutive home matches with Ohio Valley (Nov. 14, W – 77-60), Murray State (Nov. 18, L - 49-68), Southern University (Nov. 22, W – 66-48) and Northern Arizona (Nov. 25).
As the lone four-year senior, Jacquez Rozier is making his presence known this season, averaging 9.7 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Blue Raiders in their first three games.
On Saturday Marcus Tarrance came off the bench against Southern University for a dominating performance where he recorded a career-high in points (18) and rebounds (6). Tarrance was a perfect five-of-five from the field including two-for-two from behind the arc, while only missing one free-throw to give him a near perfect night.
The Blue Raiders held the lead over Southern University for 98.5 percent of the game as the posted a 66-48 win on Saturday evening.
Freshmen Edward Simpson and JaQuel Richmond have both garnered starts for the Blue Raiders as they lead the team in assists this season; Richmond (7 assists), Simpson (5 assists).
Perrin Buford landed his first start against Southern after transferring here from Southwest Tennessee State. He's averaging 6.7 points per game with 11 rebounds in 48 minutes played to start the year
The Blue Raiders have recorded three-consecutive 20+ win season; tied for the most consecutive 20-win seasons in Middle Tennessee history.
Middle Tennessee has earned at least a share of the conference regular season title three years in a row and four of the last five years. Last season the Blue Raiders were in their first season with Conference USA and procured a 13-3 record in conference play to grab a share of the regular season title.
Head Coach Kermit Davis is 17 wins from his 250th career win at Middle Tennessee.
The Blue Raiders went 14-2 last season at home and hold a record of 47-4 at the Murphy Center in the last four seasons including this season's 2-1 start at home.
Middle Tennessee ranks second in the country with a 46-6 record in conference games over the last three seasons, just behind Davidson (48-4). The Blue Raiders are 20-5 over the last three seasons in conference road games.
