MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee returns home to face UCF in the final home non-conference game of the 2014-15 season Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Blue Raiders (4-4) are 4-0 all-time against UCF and 116-15 at Murphy Center under veteran Head Coach Rick Insell.
Middle Tennessee is led by sophomore Olivia Jones who ranks in the top three of six statistical categories in C-USA, including first in steals (3.5), second in defensive rebounds (6.3) and minutes played (36.5), as well as third in points (17.9) and rebounds (9.4). Jones is also first in C-USA with four double-doubles.
Senior post Cheyenne Parker also is coming on strong and gives the Blue Raiders a shot-blocking threat in the paint. Parker established a career high with seven blocks at South Dakota State. The seven blocks are tied for the third most in a single game in school history and are the most since Kay Willbanks swatted seven against Eastern Kentucky in 1986.
Parker had six blocks in the previous game against No. 8 Kentucky. The 13 blocks in consecutive games are the most by a player in back-to-back games in program history. Parker is averaging 15.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
UCF (4-6) is looking to end a four-game losing streak while MT is hoping to avoid its first three-game skid since 2008.
