MT Heads to Jersey for Seton Hall Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team will make the trek to South Orange, N.J., for the Seton Hall Classic this weekend. MT will open Friday against Dartmouth (4:00 p.m.) before playing Fordham (1:00 p.m.) on Saturday and ending the weekend versus host Seton Hall (6 p.m.).

About the Blue Raiders
Last Time Out
MT finished 1-2 at the Blue Raider Bash last weekend while defeating Belmont in five sets for its first home win of the season. Junior Chelsea Ross and freshman Haley Morton both recorded double-doubles as Ross finished with season-highs in kills (23) and digs (17), while Morton tallied a career-high 31 assists and 15 digs.

Freshman Jacqueline Lux was named to her second All-Tournament team of the season at the Blue Raider Bash after leading the team with 45 digs and a 3.91 digs per set. Lux set a career-high with 27 digs in the victory over Belmont to go along with five assists. The Shelbyville, Ind., native is averaging 21.67 digs in the Blue Raiders three wins while just 10.57 digs in their seven losses.
Swats by Committee
Three players have amassed at least 30 blocks for the Blue Raiders as junior Rachel Shaughnessy leads the team with 39 swats while junior Jazymne Johnson and Monét Marshall is second and third on the team with 36 and 31 blocks, respectively
Ross Playing with Consistency
Ross has played consistency well this season while leading MT with 140 kills and a kill per set of 3.68. The Murfreesboro native is second in Conference USA in kills per set and points per set at 4.11. Dating back to last season, Ross has compiled double-digit kills in 16 straight games and 5 double-doubles.
About the Opponents
Scouting Darmouth (6-1, 0-0 Ivy League)
The Big Green are off to a fast start with a 6-1 mark while their only loss coming to Fresno State last weekend. Seventeen players return from last season's 11-15 squad and four newcomers make up the the roster. Teammates Emily Astarita and Paige Caridi lead the way with 74 kills apiece while Kayden Cook paces Dartmouth with 190 assists and Astarita has a team-high 21 blocks.
Scouting Fordham (0-10, 0-0 A-10)
Fordham is 0-10 on the year after falling in all three matches at the Hofstra Invitational last weekend. The Rams are led on offense by Abigail Konovodoff with 73 kills and 255 assists while Grace Muller leads the team with 111 digs on defense, and Sarah Skelton paces the Rams with 29 blocks.
Scouting Seton Hall (7-3, 0-0 Big East)
The Pirates boast a record of 7-3 with a record of 3-1 at home this season. Seton Hall recently finished 2-1 at the Mountaineer Invitational last weekend with their only setback coming against West Virginia. The SHU roster is an experienced squad as 10 of the 13 players on the team are either a junior or a senior. Stacey Manthorpe paces the team with 117 kills while Ashani Rubin is leading the way with a .347 hitting percentage to go along with 43 blocks. Shelbey Manthorpe has notched a team-best 318 assists and Tessa Fournier leads SHU with 145 digs.
