2015 Blue Raider Invitational Guide
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Coming off of the two best team performances in school history, Middle Tennessee will look to record its first team championship of the season when it hosts the Blue Raider Invitational this week.
In four years of hosting the event, head coach Chris Adams has led the team to three team titles, while adding a second place finish in 2013.
"Our goal every year is to win this event and end the fall season on a great note, giving us momentum heading into the spring," Adams said.
Middle Tennessee opened the 2015-16 Golfstat rankings at No. 60, making it the highest ranked team in the 17-team field. The Blue Raiders will be paired with Central Arkansas and Little Rock in the first two rounds on Monday.
Also in the field this year are Eastern Michigan, WKU, Troy, Tennessee Tech, Murray State, UMKC, Boston College, South Alabama, UTEP, Jacksonville State, Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Belmont and UTRGV.
"We've got some good teams coming in this year," Adams added. "It will be an interesting tournament though because the teams that we have here every year know the course about as well as we do now."
All eight Blue Raiders will compete at the par 72, 6,369-yard Old Fort Golf Club Monday and Tuesday. Senior Avery George, who leads the team in stroke average on the season at 72.6, will head up the lineup.
Joining George will be junior Samantha Gotcher (73.1), senior Emily Miller (73.4), senior Maddie Denton (73.8) and freshman Jenna Burris (73.9).
Hanley Long (75.0), Emily Williams and Lacie York will also be in the 93-player field as individuals. It will be the first action of the season for Williams and York.
Round one will begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday with round two following. Live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
