BRASELTON, Ga. – In a late change last week, the CSU/KSU Fall Invitational has been moved to the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, Ga., where Kennesaw State will co-host the tournament with Charleston Southern.
Due to the presence of Hurricane Joaquin, the state of South Carolina declared a state of emergency, forcing the change in location for the tournament.
Despite the location change, Middle Tennessee will look for another performance like the record-breaking score they posted at the Johnie Imes Invitational a week ago. The Blue Raider lineup of Emily Miller, Maddie Denton, Avery George, Jenna Burris and Samantha Gotcher finished second with a school-record 850 (-14) at the Club at Old Hawthorne.
With each member of the team finishing in the top 20 a week ago, the same five will travel to the CSU/KSU Fall Invitational this week.
Miller and Denton are both coming off of a one-under 215 total that placed them tied for 12th. George and Burris both posted an even-par 216 to finish tied for 15th while Gotcher carded a one-over 217 to finish tied for 20th.
Denton and Burris both posted career low rounds and three-round totals a week ago to help the team to its record-breaking performance.
This week Middle Tennessee will face a field that includes co-hosts Charleston Southern and Kennesaw State as well as in-state competition from East Tennessee State, Memphis, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech.
Bethune-Cookman, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Longwood, Ole Miss and Samford will round out the 14-team field.
"This is a new tournament for us this year," head coach Chris Adams said. "It will have a lot of teams ranked in the 50 to 70 range, so hopefully it will be an opportunity for us to have a good showing and improve our national ranking."
Following the weekend practice rounds, the tournament will tee off at 8:00 a.m. on Monday with rounds one and two on the Chateau course. Tuesday's final round will take place on the Woodlands course at Chateau Elan with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com throughout both days.
