Final Results
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – With a strong final nine holes on Sunday, Middle Tennessee was able to hold its spot in the Mason Rudolph Invitational with a 12th place finish.
The Raiders share their spot in the final standings with South Carolina and Baylor, both Top 15 teams in last year's final rankings.
An eight-over par 296 on the final day pushed Middle Tennessee's three-round total to 888 (+24).
"Overall I'm pretty pleased with the results," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "Tied for 12th isn't what we want, but this is the toughest field we will face this year."
Emily Miller led the team again on day three with an even-par 72. Her three-round total of 217 (74-71-72) placed her in a tie for 20th.
"Emily had a solid Top 20 finish," Adams stated. "I'm proud of her and her performance."
Avery George shot a two-over 74 in the final round to finish with a score of 224 (75-75-74). Samantha Gotcher carded a four-over 76 to finish alongside George at 224 (75-73-76). The pair tied for 47th in the tournament.
Maddie Denton matched her round two score on Sunday to finish the tournament at 225 (73-76-76), a score that places her tied for 52nd.
Hanley Long bounced back on day three to fire a two-over par 74. The freshman finished the tournament in a tie for 69th at 229 (78-77-74).
"We were close to a Top 10 finish with a lot of really good teams," Adams added. "That proves we can be very competitive, we just need to roll in a few more birdies.
"Now we have a few days before we head to Missouri for a tournament where we did make some birdies last year and set some scoring records."
The next tournament on the schedule for the Blue Raiders is the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo. The tournament, hosted by the Missouri at Old Hawthorne Golf Club, will take place Sept. 28-29.
