COLUMBIA, Mo. – Middle Tennessee will take on the field at the Johnie Imes Invitational for the second year in a row this week.
In 2014, the Blue Raiders were able to break into the school record books and were rewarded with a third place finish at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
"This is a tournament where we were able to set some scoring records last year," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "We will see a lot of the same teams this year and are excited to be in this field again."
Middle Tennessee recorded a three-round total of two-under 862 (290-291-281), which at the time was the best 54-hole score in school history. The third round score of 281 is tied for the best round in school history.
Emily Miller carded a three-under 213 (72-73-68) to finish seventh in the field a year ago, while Avery George shot a 64 with nine birdies in the final round. Miller's total is tied for the fourth best three-round total in school history, while George's round is the best in school history.
Miller, George, Samantha Gotcher, Maddie Denton and Jenna Burris have all made the trip for the Blue Raiders. All but Burris will be making their second appearance at the Johnie Imes Invitational.
Miller, George and Gotcher all contributed to the team score at the Johnie Imes Invitational last season, while Denton played as an individual. Each of the four finished in the top 20, providing the Blue Raiders with plenty of experience at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
In last week's Mason Rudolph Invitational, Miller led the Blue Raiders with a top 20 performance, finishing the tournament at one-over par.
After a Sunday practice round, the Blue Raiders will tee off on Monday at 8:00 a.m. with the second round following round one.
