Raiders Open Spring Slate in Texas

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Riding high after finishing the fall with a first place finish at the Blue Raider Invitational, Middle Tennessee opens the spring schedule tomorrow at the All There August Challenge.
Texas State will play host to the 15-team field at the Landa Park Golf Course in New Braunfels, Texas. The par 71 course will play at a distance of 5,885 yards.
Middle Tennessee enters the tournament as the highest ranked team in the field according to GolfStat at No. 54. The Blue Raiders will face four other top 100 teams in Texas State (No. 67), Long Beach State (No. 70), Conference USA foe UTSA (No. 73) and Idaho (No. 78).
Two other Conference USA members are a part of the field as UTEP (No. 178) and North Texas (No. 194) join Middle Tennessee in New Braunfels.
Rounding out the field are Boise State, Georgia Southern, Houston Baptist, Little Rock, Sam Houston State, ULM, UTRGV and Youngstown State.
Senior Avery George and junior Samantha Gotcher will head up the Blue Raider lineup at Landa Park GC.
George enjoyed a 72.6 stroke average in the fall and won the individual title at the Blue Raider Invitational. Gotcher averaged 73.3 strokes per round in the fall and finished in the top 10 of the Raiders' last two fall tournaments.
Freshmen Jenna Burris and Hanley Long will hold down the third and fourth spots in the lineup, respectively.
Both enjoyed strong campaigns in their first fall campaign. Burris played in four tournaments with a 74.4 stroke average while Long appeared in three competitions and averaged 76.1 strokes per round.
Maddie Denton, who is in the midst of a great senior season, qualified for the final spot in the lineup. \
The Murfreesboro native carries a 74.1 stroke average into the spring and shot a career best 66 (-6) in the first round at the Johnie Imes Invitational and registered a career best 214 (-2) across three rounds at the CSU/KSU Fall Invitational.
The Blue Raiders will play 36 holes on Sunday with an 8:30 shotgun start before finishing the tournament with 18 holes on Monday.
