Raiders Ink 13 Top Finishes at MTSU Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders nabbed 13 top finishes and ten personal bests in their annual MTSU Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Isaac Odugbesan opened the day for Middle Tennessee grabbing the first victory of the day on the field in the shot put. Odugbesan recorded a 17.06m mark in his second outing for the Blue Raiders this season.
Similarly, Qetwrah Abdullah-Muhammad and Jacob Patten clinched top finishes in their respective field events. Abdullah-Muhammad recorded a 5.71m distance in the women's long jump while Patten posted a 1.93m height in the men's high jump event.
Moving to the track, Solomon Afful inked two first place finishes in the 55 (6.37) and 200 (21.52) meter events while Jaquez Torian placed first in the 400 meter event with a season-best time of 48.72.
Freshman Julio Acevedo rounded off the men's top finishes, recording a victory in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:00.01.
On the women's side, Lauren Epps recorded a new personal best in the 55-meter hurdles event with a time of 8.32. Likewise, Jasmeen Phillips recorded a personal best distance in the shot put inking a distance of 9.34m.
Meanwhile, Cecelia Francis, Janet Amponsah, Patience Akanwogba, and Rachael Kigen all recorded first place finishes in their respective events.
The Blue Raiders will travel to Vanderbilt next weekend before heading to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship.
