Men's Tennis Ventures to Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Three tough road matches are on deck for Middle Tennessee's men's tennis, but the Blue Raiders have their eyes first set on in-state foe No. 19 Tennessee Volunteers. This will be 10th meeting between the two programs as they face off in Knoxville Wednesday, February 27 at 1pm CT.
The Blue Raiders are 9-2 when taking doubles point and has won eight-straight first points. Tom Moonen and Chris Edge enter into the ITA doubles rankings at No. 59 and are riding a six-match win streak. Also, Gonzalo Morell and Pavel Motl boasting similar honors winning eight-straight doubles matches.

The University of Tennessee is ranked No. 19 in the Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) after posting an 8-1 overall record. They have two players featured in the Top 115 of the latest Oracle/ITA national singles rankings. Their only loss comes from Tulane, 4-3. The Volunteers last season fell to UNC in the second round of the NCAA Championships finishing with an overall record of 21-9.
MT players to watch
No. 59 Chris Edge/Tom Moonen – the pair jumps into the latest ITA doubles rankings at No. 59 for the first time this spring season. Currently, they have a 14-5 overall record, winning six-straight matches. Edge is holding his own in singles, winning three-straight matches improving his overall record 12-7.
Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore – since moving to the No. 2 position in singles he has won four-straight matches. Not including, Morell is undefeated (8-0) in dual doubles matches with freshman Pavel Motl.
Max Rauch/Francisco Rocha – 10-6 overall, and the duo is 5-1 in the No. 3 spot for doubles. Rocha bolsters a 17-7 doubles match record since August 2018, while Rauch is doing work in singles with a 16-7 overall record, winning five of the last eight.
Pavel Motl – the freshman won all three of his singles matches this past weekend upping his overall record to 16-9. Gonzalo Morell and Pavel Motl currently are riding a six-match win streak.
