Final Results
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Women's Golf closed out the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship with its best round of the week on Tuesday, turning in an 8-over par 292 to finish in 10th place at Cherokee Country Club.
It was the team's rookie, Molly Bebelaar, who led the turnaround for the Blue Raiders on Tuesday as a stellar 3-under par 68 moved her 21 spots up the leaderboard on the final day in Knoxville.
The low round of the week for the Blue Raiders, Bebelaar's round three score also matched the second lowest round ever by a Blue Raider freshman behind only teammate Catherine Caudill's 5-under 66 at the same event a season ago.
"We made some improvements today and I'm very happy for Molly," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "This team is going to work hard and we are going to keep getting better all season."
MT's two upperclassmen in the lineup, juniors Caroline Caudill and Sophie Burks, led the way on the week, each posting 54-hole scores of 7-over par 220.
Sophomores Catherine Caudill and Madison Smith each finished with their best rounds of the week on Tuesday to build some momentum towards their next appearance. The younger Caudill carded a 3-over par 74 while Smith turned in a 4-over par 75 as the two finished one stroke apart on the week at 14-over and 15-over, respectively.
Middle Tennessee has just one day back in Murfreesboro before they make the short trip to Franklin for a Thursday practice round at Vanderbilt Legends Club ahead of the Mason Rudolph Championship (Sep. 20-22).
"It's a really short turnaround for Vanderbilt but we are excited about being back on the course Friday and to be playing in the Mason Rudolph again," Adams added.
