FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee was unable to turn things around on the final day of the Mason Rudolph Championship, as a team round of 17-over 305 saw the squad finish the week 50-over par (302-307-305=914).
Junior Sophie Burks, the Blue Raiders' leading returner from a season ago, led the way for MT on the week with a final tally of 11-over par (76-76-75=227).
Sophomore Madison Smith and freshman Molly Bebelaar each showed promising signs during the week despite turning in 54-hole totals of 13-over par 229. Bebelaar led the entire field in Par 3 scoring (-2, 2.83) while Smith had the best Par 4 scoring average (+6, 4.21) on the team.
Sisters Catherine and Caroline Caudill finished the week at 17-over par and 20-over par, respectively, to round out the scoring for Middle Tennessee at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
"Of course we're all disappointed with the outcome this week," Adams said. "We made too many mistakes on the week and struggled to get our birdie chances to drop, so we didn't give ourselves much of a chance to post scores that show our full potential.
"We still have a lot left to play for this season and I believe in the talent we have on this team, but it's going to take a lot of hard work from everyone on our team to post the scores we know we're capable of."
After two days of practice and qualifying, Adams and her squad will look to right the wrongs later in the coming week at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational (Sep. 27-29) in Lexington, Ky.
