LEXINGTON, Ky. – After another quick turnaround, Head Women's Golf Coach Chris Adams leads her squad back onto the course Friday morning looking for improved results in Middle Tennessee's second trip to Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
The Blue Raiders competed in the event for the first time a season ago, bringing home a third-place finish in a competitive field in Lexington, and hope to take a step forward from their results in last week's Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship and Mason Rudolph Championship.
"We've been competing a lot in a short amount of time already, and it certainly has a taken a bit of a toll on us," Adams said. "We had a great practice before leaving Murfreesboro, though, and our team has a great attitude. They're looking forward to playing on a course that they liked and had good performances on last year."
Four of Middle Tennessee's five golfers – Sophie Burks, Caroline Caudill, Catherine Caudill and Madison Smith – in the lineup this week are returners to the event after competing in the same field in 2018, and are joined by Kentucky native Molly Bebelaar.
The Caudill sisters each finished in the Top 15 in last season's Invitational while Burks closed out the week with strong rounds of 1-over 73 and 1-under 71.
The University Club of Kentucky's Par 72 Big Blue Course will play at 6,114 yards while the field features 13 teams that include Conference USA foes Marshall and WKU.
Kentucky, defending their team title at the 2018 playing of their home event, will also be looking to hold off 2018 runner-up Penn State as well as Akron, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Indianapolis, Memphis, Murray State, Rutgers and Tulane.
The Blue Raiders will tee off in the feature group on Friday alongside Kentucky and Penn State.
Caroline Caudill will lead off on the first tee at 8:30 a.m., followed by Catherine Caudill, Bebelaar, Smith and Burks in 9-minute intervals.
Junior Savannah Quick, competing in Lexington as an individual, tees off at 9:15 a.m. on hole 10 alongside Marshall and Akron.
Live scoring of Friday's opening round can be followed on Golfstat.com.
