Middle Tennessee Men's Tennis to compete at ITA Regional Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raider men's tennis team is set to hit the road this week for the ITA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Goodfriend Tennis Center. The Regional Championship begins Sept. 23 and concludes on the following Monday.
The MT lineup boasts experience and talent. John Chin, Chris Edge, Stepan Holis, Pavel Motl, Stijn Slump, and Francisco Rocha will represent the Blue Raiders.
MT has three players in singles and one duo in ITA Pre-season rankings. Rocha, the 2021 Conference USA Player of the Year checks in at No. 38. While Edge and Slump round out the rankings at No. 104 and No. 109, respectively.
The tandem of Motl and Slump possess the No. 21 ranking after an outstanding campaign last season. The pair earned First Team All-Conference USA accolades in 2021 and look to build off of that this year.
Head Coach Jimmy Borendame enters his 12th season with the Blue Raiders and has had some recent success at the ITA Regional Championships. Under Borendame, they garnered the 2019 doubles champions in Motl/Slump and singles runner-up, Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore in 2018. MT eyes another championship level effort this weekend.
Draws for the ITA Regional Championship will be released Wednesday.

The Blue Raiders will travel to the ITA All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Oct. 2-10, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
