Blue Raiders set to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – With a 4-1 record to begin the Spring slate of matches, Middle Tennessee men's tennis gears up for the ITA Kickoff Weekend against Georgia Tech (2-0) on Saturday and either host Virginia (3-0) or Ball State (2-0) on Sunday at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar's Head Resort.
The Blue Raiders will play the Yellow Jackets in the opening round, the winner of that match will compete in the championship against the winner of UVA/Ball State on Sunday at noon. The losers will battle for third place in the consolation match at 10 a.m. the same day.
MT is coming off a hard-fought match against #21 Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. The Blue Raiders were dealt their first defeat on the season, dropping the dual match 2-5.
Freshman Oskar Brostrom Poulsen earned Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors after his performance against the Bulldogs. The Denmark native had a hand in both of the Blue Raider points against MSU, winning on both the singles and doubles courts.
Graduate Students Chris Edge and Stepan Holis are 5-0 are doubles court No. 3 through five matches. As a team, the Blue Raiders are undefeated on court Nos. 2 and 3 and have yet to pickup a win on doubles court No. 1.
Collectively, MT is 25-5 throughout the six singles courts and 12-3 in the top three courts.
