No. 18 Middle Tennessee Heads to Conference USA Championship in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. – 1-seed/No. 18 Middle Tennessee men's tennis (24-4, 2-0) heads to Norfolk looking to defend their back-to-back Conference USA Titles in the 2022 C-USA Men's Tennis Championship from April 22-24 at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders will start the tournament in the opening round, playing 8-seed UAB on Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m. ET. Host site, Old Dominion, is not offering live streaming for the tournament. However, live stats will be active for fans to keep up with current scoring here. Friday's matchup against the Blazers will be the third match MT has played against a C-USA member institution this Spring season. The Raiders swept Southern Miss 7-0 to kick off the season and defeated Rice on March 20 at 5-2 on the road.
The Blue Raiders are led by Seniors No. 71 Stijn Slump and No. 80 Francisco Rocha, who split time on the top two Blue Raider courts, together they have a record of 34-8 in singles competition. Both of those individuals have the two highest singles rankings in the C-USA.
Graduate Student Chris Edge and Stepan Holis enter their fourth postseasons as collegiate tennis players, on the season Edge is 19-7, Holis 15-8, and as a duo in doubles they are 19-4.
Freshman Oskar Brostrom Poulsen comes in with a 16-6 record and resides in the top-10 in Blue Raider Program History in Freshman singles wins. Paired with Rocha, they have the highest doubles rating in the conference at No. 54.
Senior Pavel Motl sits at 10-7 on the season and has been in excellent form after the Blue Raiders won the Blue Grey Championship.
8-seed UAB is 8-14 on the season and 1-1 against C-USA opponents. The Blazers are led by Michal Lusovsky who is 15-6 on the season on the top court. The Czech, Republic native has won nine of his last 10 matches and is 0-1 against ITA ranked singles opponents. UAB has lost seven of their last 10 matches, however, they have picked up a point in each contest.
