Rocha wins over top-10 opponent at Tennessee Hidden Duals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee men's tennis impressed in singles at day two of the Tennessee Hidden Duals on Saturday morning.
The matchup this morning for the Blue Raiders was against Columbia, a top-30 team in the nation last year.
MTSU split the singles matches, winning three of the six. The Lions took the win in all three doubles matches.
Francisco Rocha picked up a huge win over No. 10 Alex Kotzen of Columbia. Rocha won in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. After cruising to a first set win, Rocha had to come from behind to win set two and clinch the ranked victory.
Oskar Brostrom Poulsen won his singles match over Columbia's Michael Zheng. The first set was won comfortably by Brostrom Poulsen 6-2. The sophomore from Denmark then forced a tiebreak in the second set and pulled out the 7-6 win. Bromstrom Poulsen's Saturday opponent is No. 891 in the Association of Tennis Professionals as well as the No. 3 newcomer in the nation according to Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Marcel Kamrowski picked up his second collegiate win in as many days over Henry Ruger of Columbia 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles, No. 31 Rocha and Brostrom Poulsen were in a battle against No. 21 Max Westphal and Theo Winegar. The Blue Raiders came up just short by a score of 7-5. The duo of Pavel Motl and Shu Matsuoka fought back from down 5-1 but ultimately dropped the match, 6-3. Ondrej Horak and Kamrowski competed in doubles but dropped their match as well.

"The doubles need work and will get better each day. It will be a focus the next few weeks and in the fall. In singles, we had better performances and I am happy with our attitudes. We want to finish strong on Sunday."
