Men’s Tennis host Indiana on Friday, travel to Mississippi State on Sunday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Coming off a win at home last Friday, Middle Tennessee men's tennis (1-0, 0-0 C-USA) will compete in two matches over the weekend.
MTSU will host Indiana (2-0, 0-0 B1G) at the Adams Tennis Complex on Friday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. CT. Two days later, the Blue Raiders will face Mississippi State on the road in Starkville, Miss. on Sunday, Jan. 22 12 p.m. CT. MTSU and MSU both received votes in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings that were released on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
The Blue Raiders defeated Michigan State 6-1 on Jan. 13. The Spartans took the doubles point, but MTSU would fight back to win all six singles matches.
Stijn Slump and Pavel Motl went two-for-two against Michigan State. The duo won their doubles match 6-3. Motl won his singles match 6-2, 6-1. Slump tallied a ranked win as he defeated No. 26 Ozan Baris 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Francisco Rocha earned a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Freshman Ondrej Horak and Marcel Kamrowski made their dual match Blue Raider debuts. Horak secured a win in his singles match 6-4, 6-1. Kamrowski picked up a 6-4, 7-5 victory.

- Friday's matchup will be the seventh meeting between MTSU and Indiana, the Hoosiers lead the series 7-6.

Scouting the Hoosiers
- The Hoosiers bring back eight players from last year's squad. No.1 Haskins and No. 2 Fletchall in singles return for their fifth year. The two combined for 27 combined singles wins in 2022. The doubles pairing of Fletchall/Tiraspolsky combined to win 14 matches last season.
- Indiana has defeated Dayton and Toledo so far this season. The Hoosiers have taken both doubles point from each match. They only needed three singles wins, which they earned for an overall 4-1 victory against Dayton and Toledo.

-Mississippi State returns four players along with three freshman and two transfers to make up their 2023 team.
- Freshman Petar Jovanovic is ranked by the ITA in singles at No. 107. He defeated No. 123 Sebastien Collard in the last match against South Alabama.
- The doubles pairing of Carles Hernandez and Nenmanja Malesevic are ranked at No. 42 according to the ITA. The last time out they picked up a victory over No. 16 ranked team of Jack Clements and Louis Delcour of South Alabama.
