Raquin advances to the Finals of the ITA Regional Championships

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Leo Raquin won two matches on Sunday to move on to the championship match of the singles draw at the ITA Regional Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. Raquin becomes the first Blue Raider since Gonzalo Morell Rashiatore in 2018 to reach the finals of the ITA Regional Championships.
Marcel Kamrowski defeated his teammate Ondrej Horak 6-4, 6-2. Raquin tallied a 7-5, 6-2 win against Belmont's Wallin. With those two wins, Kamrowski and Raquin both advanced to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Raquin picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kentucky's Loutit. The Besancon, France native qualifies for the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego from Nov. 1-5.
Raquin will take on Pau Fanlo of Memphis on Monday, Oct. 16 in the finals at 9 a.m. CT.

"Today, Leo had incredible results. After his great run at All-Americans, he's having another great week making the final and earning a chance to win the title tomorrow. He absolutely deserves to qualify for Fall Nationals. I'm proud of him. This is just the cherry on top of great tournament as a team. We had five guys in the round of 16, three in the quarterfinals and two in the semifinals is an extraordinary result in such a strong region. If Marcel and Ondrej didn't have to play each other we could have had three guys in the semifinals. I would have loved to have an all Blue Raider final with Marcel and Leo tomorrow but Marcel wasn't able to take advantage of his lead and finish his opponent. This is a great reward for all the hard work our guys and us coaches have put so far. This will motivate us even more to work even harder and aim for more!"
