MIAMI, Fla. – Middle Tennessee softball (30-15, 9-8) dropped the final game with FIU (20-24, 6-12) 1-0. Gretchen Mead threw a complete game holding the Panthers to just one run.
The first and only run of game three came in the second inning. Mead held FIU scoreless the rest of the game. The Blue Raiders had a chance to answer in the third with two runners on base but couldn't capitalize.
MTSU had another chance to take the lead in the fourth with bases loaded but came up empty once again. Amaya Harris led off the fifth inning with a double for the third hit of the game for the Blue Raiders.
In the top of the sixth, the Blue Raiders had back-to-back singles from Julia Garcia and Shelby Sargent but were left on base. A total of 9 baserunners were left on by MTSU in game three.

.305: Batting average this season for MTSU to lead C-USA.
7: Complete games this season by Gretchen Mead
Quote from Head Coach Jeff Breeden
"We played good ball this weekend, but today's outcome was not what we wanted. Gretchen pitched very good today and deserved to win. The glaring stat today is our 1-4 hitters were 0-13 and we left nine baserunners."
