Al-Amin, Horak Take No. 2 Seed Baylor to the Wire, Fall in Three Sets in Opening Round of NCAA Championships

WACO, Texas — Blue Raiders Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak began their run at the NCAA Individual Championships tonight in Waco, Texas, looking to make their mark among the top doubles team in Division I tennis on a national stage.
Al-Amin and Horak battled their way through the first set, trading points with No. 2 overall seed Marko Miladinovic and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen from host Baylor in the early going, controlling a 5-4 lead with a chance to clinch the match's decisive opening set. The Bears' duo climbed their way back into the lead, rattling off three straight points to claim a crucial point in the first set 7-5.
The Middle Tennessee pair came right back after losing the first set by jumping out to an early 3-1 lead in the second. The Blue Raiders weathered a comeback effort for Baylor to even the match at one, winning the set 7-6 by way of a 7-3 tiebreaker.
After winning the second set and forcing the third set tiebreaker, Al-Amin and Horak controlled another lead, this time putting the Bears of the brink of elimination with an 8-3 advantage, just two points from securing a berth in the second round. Miladinovic and Brostrom Poulsen once again fought their way back, winning seven consecutive points to claim a come from behind victory and advance to tomorrow's Round of 16.
