Softball drops game two with FIU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball (16-21, 4-7) dropped game two with FIU (14-19, 2-6) 6-3 on Friday to even the series. Saturday's series finale will start at 12 p.m. CT and be the deciding game.
MTSU jumped out to an early lead with Ansley Blevins driving in Shelby Echols in the bottom of the first inning. FIU would answer immediately and tie the game with a run of their own due to an error by the Blue Raiders.
The Panthers would take a two-run lead in the top of the third inning after a pair of errors by the Blue Raider defense.
Amaya Harris picked up her 42nd hit of the season in the third inning for the second most in Conference USA.
MTSU would go on to tie the game and shift the momentum its way in the fifth inning after Tepe's lead-off home run. Julia Garcia would then deliver an RBI single to score Echols. The Senior from Pearland, Texas Echols, would also pick up her 42nd hit of the season on Saturday for the second most in CUSA.
The Panthers would capture a three-run lead in the seventh after three unearned runs would come across to make it 6-3.
Mary Martinez would start in the circle for the Blue Raiders and allow just one earned run on seven hits in her 6.2 of work. Kamryn Carcich took over to get the final out of inning and bring up the Blue Raiders for their last chance in the bottom of the seventh.
Unable to get a rally going, FIU would take game two and even the series headed into Saturday's series finale.
