NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Kendall Maynard brought home the first top-10 individual finish of the Lauren Wamsley era, finishing T6 at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. Middle Tennessee completed the tournament ninth in the team competition, finishing at 910 (+46).
Maynard continued to improve upon her opening round score in the final round. She once again shot a 71 (-1) to lower her overall score to 219 (+3), carding four birdies and just two holes over par in the final 18 holes of the tournament. The sixth-place finish marks the highest individual finish for any Blue Raider since the Ozarks National Invitational in March 2024, when Ella Manley finished T2.
Lanie Campbell ended the competition at T30, bettering her score by two strokes compared to the second round. The junior carded a 76 (+4) in the final round to bring her score to 227 (+11).
Nicole Johnson jumped nine spots in the individual competition to T48 after carding her lowest score of the tournament, a 74 (+2), and was one of just four student-athletes to birdie hole 13 in the third round.
Ella Manley also improved her position compared to the second round, finishing at T50 for the Invitational. She tallied 235 shots to end 19-over-par, dramatically improving upon her opening round total.
In her first collegiate tournament, Caroline Pardue ended at T55, also dropping shots from her first-round total. She shot six-over-par in the final round today to end at 238 (+22), tallying two birdies to complete her debut.
As an individual competitor, Jillian Bowman finished at 57 after a disappointing final round to put her at 239 (+23) for the tournament.
Wamsley's Words
"So proud of the team and how we improved our team score each day. It was great to see each one step up throughout the tournament and provide scores to help the team," said head coach Lauren Wamsley. "I'm so happy for Kendall and how well she played throughout the tournament. To place top six in a solid field is a great start to her senior year. Nicole had a great bounce back as well and it was great to see her play well today. Overall, it's a great start to the season and we are looking forward to continuing in Louisville this weekend."
Tournament Notes
It is a tight turnaround for the Blue Raiders, who hit the road to compete in the Cardinal Cup this weekend. The tournament, hosted by the University of Louisville, takes place from Sept. 13-15 at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
