Blue Raiders jump to second through two rounds at Golfweek Spring Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Middle Tennessee women's golf team turned in a strong second day at the Golfweek Spring Invite Tuesday at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, as the Blue Raiders are second among a 16-team field with a team score of 579 (+11).
MTSU is ten strokes behind the leader Coastal Carolina. The Blue Raiders fired a two-over -par 286 in round two to climb two spots in the team leaderboard.
Abbie Lee continued to shine for the Blue Raiders, carding a one-under-par 70 in her second round. The senior climbed to T5 on the player leaderboard with a 142 (E) to lead MTSU. She played another clean and consistent round, carding two birdies and just one bogey on the day.
Jillian Bowman put together another strong round for MTSU, once again finishing with a career low, this time a 72 (+1). She made the turn at one-under-par with a birdie at hole nine, accompanied by another at hole fifteen. The sophomore sits at T11 on the player leaderboard with a 145 (+3) overall.
Ella Manley climbed five spots after dropping her score once again, this time with a 73 (+2) in the second round. The sophomore birdied holes two and 17 to finish at 147 (+5) through two rounds.
Nicole Johnson had a difficult second round, getting off to a slower start, sitting at two-over at the turn. She bounced back with her two birdies of the day on holes 10 and 12, but found difficulty on the final two holes of the day to finish at 76 (+5). The sophomore places T22 with a total score of 150 (+8).
Lanie Campbell had a terrific bounce back round Tuesday, tallying her third round at par or better this season with a 71 (E). The junior birdied a team-leading four holes, including three on her front nine to catapult 30 places in the player leaderboard to T42. She's totaled 153 (+11) through 36 holes.
The Blue Raiders will tee off Wednesday morning for the third and final round of the tournament, paired with Coastal Carolina, Morehead State and Akron beginning at 8:53.
