MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Isabella Johnson is set to compete as an individual qualifier at the NCAA Louisville Regional this week. The tournament will run May 11-13 at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky., following an 18-18-18 format.
Johnson was selected to the tournament by the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee based on her Scoreboard ranking, currently sitting at 201, as one of six individuals competing at the regional. The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will advance to the national championship at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Competing alongside the sophomore as individuals is South Carolina's Eila Galitsky and Maylis Lamoure, Old Dominion's Barbara Car, BYU's Maria Jose Barragan and Belmont's Sloane Biddle. On the team side, it will be Arkansas, Auburn, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Houston, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Indiana, College of Charleston, Xavier, WKU and Murray State.
Entering the tournament, Johnson boasts an impressive resume for just a sophomore, most recently being named First Team All-CUSA and Most Improved Golfer by the league office and head coaches. With a 72.32 stroke average and 17 rounds at par or better, she sits atop the single season Blue Raider records. She is just the second Middle Tennessee women's golfer to qualify for an NCAA Regional as an individual, following Hanley Long being selected in the 2019 season. Long competed at the Auburn regional, placing T52nd with a 225 score.
