MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee softball travels to Birmingham, Ala. Tuesday to take on UAB in a double header, which begins at 4 p.m. The Lady Raiders haven't played a game since March 24, when Middle Tennessee competed in the Buzz Classic. After six consecutive tournaments, Middle Tennessee softball is looking to be refreshed and ready to begin Sun Belt play, which kicks off on Saturday April 6 at Florida International. When the Lady Raiders returned from spring break, the team voted on team captains for the 2002 season. Selected to the rank of captain is a pair of seniors, Lisa Sherman and Laura Brockman. Sherman, a second baseman from Loomis, Calif., is a junior college transfer from Sacramento City Junior College. Currently she has a .242 batting average and 15 RBI. Brockman, an outfielder from Suwanne, Ga., has spent all four years as a Lady Raider and is the career record holder in homeruns with 18. She has a batting average of .132 and seven RBI.
