Middle Tennessee earns 6-1 win over Michigan State on Friday
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee earned a big win over Big Ten foe Michigan State to start the season at 1-0, on Friday at the Adams Tennis Complex.
Kicking off the match with doubles, the Blue Raiders earned an early start with a win on court 2 by Blue Raider pair Chris Edge and Tom Moonen. The duo shut out Michigan State's Campbell/Keene, 6-2.
Clinching the doubles point for the Blue Raiders, the No. 48 ranked pair, sophomores Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump battled against Michigan State's number one pair Carlin/Pero and earned the win, 6-2. The victory put the Blue Raiders in the lead, 1-0 heading into singles.
After the completion of all first sets, the Blue Raiders led on all of the courts with No. 76 junior Chris Edge earning the first win by taking down Carson Gates in a straight set, 6-1, 6-1.
With the Blue Raiders in the lead, 2-0, senior leader Tom Moonen extended the lead to 3-0, defeating Michigan State's number one John Carlin in a straight set, 6-2, 6-3.
