Blue Raiders complete comeback to defeat Jacksonville State 4-3 on Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis took on conference foe Jacksonville State on a neutral site on Friday, January 12 in Starkville, Miss. The Blue Raiders battled from down 0-3 against the Gamecocks to win four straight matches to claim the victory.
JSU took the doubles point on court No. 1 and No. 3. On court No. 2, Rutuja Chaphalkar and Cassidy Mataia tallied a 6-1 win against Pavelekova and Syrova on court No. 2.
The Gamecocks won on court No. 3 and 6 to take a 3-0 lead. On court No. 2, Mataia defeated Ramenskaja 6-3, 6-3 to earn her second win of the day. Freshman Lena Peyer picked up a 7-6, 6-3 victory against Artigas on court No. 4 to cut the Gamecock lead to 3-2. On court No. 1, Sana Garakani battled from losing set one 2-6 to win the next two 6-2, 6-2 to tie the score at three all. Eloise Swarbrick fought back from down 2-5 in the third to force a third set tiebreak and clinched the win for the Blue Raiders winning 7-5, 4-6, 7-6.
